A Walnut Creek higher faculty student was getting treated in the intense care unit right after he was struck by a car or truck when skateboarding in a crosswalk near Las Lomas Higher School Thursday morning, school officials said.
The scholar was on his way to school and was strike in the crosswalk on Newell Avenue and South Broadway in close proximity to the substantial faculty, Principal Sara Harris explained in a letter tackled to the campus neighborhood.
The driver of the car remained at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement, explained Lt. Holley Connors, a Walnut Creek police spokesperson. The crash was documented to police at 7:53 a.m., Connors reported.
School officers and healthcare personnel responded to the scene, where by the pupil was acutely aware in advance of he was taken to a local children’s medical center for “evaluation,” Harris wrote. He sustained non-lifestyle-threatening accidents and is currently recovering, Connors mentioned.
The student was “undergoing a wide variety of tests” in the ICU on Thursday, Harris wrote. The motorist was not wounded, Connors said.
Harris explained people and learners witnessed the incident, adding that the school’s Wellness Middle is providing more staffing to assistance pupils if needed.

In the Lafayette incident, Contra Costa County sheriff’s officials stated the driver of the car or truck has been interviewed by authorities and is cooperative with the investigation.
