STAFFORD SPRINGS, Conn. (WWLP) – Mike Christopher, Jr took down the gain in the 8th once-a-year NAPA Automobile Pieces SK 5K on Friday night at Stafford Speedway.
Hatfield’s Tyler Leary led some laps in the party. He began on the pole and fell back to next right before having the lead from Marcello Rufrano on lap 4 and then losing on lap 6. Leary would then get back the direct from Rufrano on lap 16. Todd Owen would start to acquire on Leary and acquire the lead on lap 36.
Mike Christopher, Jr took the direct from Owen on lap 66 in the 100 lap race. The race went the first 90 laps with out a caution as Leary spun to deliver out the initial caution of the celebration at lap 90.
Christopher, Jr would guide on the restart on lap 91. Stephen Kopcik was producing his for the guide and took it with 3 laps remaining but the warning would arrive out on lap 96 as the industry would go back a lap. Christopher, Jr, and Kopcik would be facet by facet on the restart for two laps as Christopher, Jr would get the lead on the closing lap and went onto win the NAPA Auto Elements SK 5K.
Christopher, Jr talked about the gain to 22News.
“I was biding my time in the starting. I believe Todd (Owen) wore off all around that time so I passed him and again just biding my time and definitely, the yellow came out with 10 laps to go and had that restart. Still experienced the motor vehicle I believed I experienced just before that mainly because we were nevertheless pulling absent and then certainly, Stephen (Kopcik) was saving his stuff the full time mainly because he lit the candle at the finish but experienced that restart with three to go and held on in some way,” Christopher, Jr claimed.
Stephen Kopcik completed in second. Chase Dowling concluded in 3rd. Todd Owen finished in fourth and Andrew Molleur rounded out the prime five.
Dylan Kopec out of Feeding Hills concluded in 11th. Mikey Flynn out of Hampden concluded in 15th. Tyler Leary out of Hatfield completed in 19th and Dan Wesson out of Monson completed in 22nd.
Stafford Speedway will return to motion this Friday night.
